A small plot is sometimes a big problem – I talked about it with 15min.lt journalist Asta Kaušakiene. I invite you to read!
Blogger Lina Liubertaitė says that in modern plots we can get a vision like from the covers of a magazine, and the smallness of the plot should not scare us or prepare us for impossible challenges.
«Whether you start to create a piece of land from scratch or renovate an already formed one, you need to think first of all about the setting of the land. I’m referring to the buildings, trees, bushes, benches and other elements that maintain the structure.
Try to imagine that you are designing a room in a house. If there is only a lawn and a hedge on the plot, it will look like an empty room without furniture. It may seem that a large lawn gives a feeling of space, but I noticed that such a texture is awkward and boring. Therefore, if we want the garden to be beautiful, interesting and attractive to the eye, then we need more plants and other elements that create the environment,” notes Lina Liubertaitė.

For those who want to renovate the land, he says it is normal to do it every 7-10 years: the house is ripe for repairs, the environment also requires changes. Furthermore, the family’s needs and desires change during this period. “It is not always necessary to buy something new and drastically rearrange everything. You can always use what you have, but you need to know some design principles, because the same plants can look completely new. Agnieszka Hubeny-Žukowska will talk about this at the conference and reveal how the same plants, planted in a different order, combined with other plants, can really surprise you, create a new, modern image,” says Lina.
How not to reduce the already small plot?
«It is very important to discover the right style and have an idea for your garden, because even a small garden can have its own concept and style. You can travel to foreign countries and bring back ideas from there, but you can also take ideas from our traditional heritage, reinterpret them and adapt them to modern architecture,» he says. “Garden style” the organizer.

Note that we are currently looking for a Lithuanian identity, but we have too few examples of a modern Lithuanian construction site. However, when we create our own plot, we can think, remember plants from our childhood or use what we have seen on our travels.
“We can recall the weathervanes, spindles, Lithuanian patterns and decorate terrace walls with them, use local stones, choose raised beds using intricately woven wicker. A landscape architect will talk about this at the conference Lina Puodžiūtėbecause national motifs in the courtyard acquire a new breath», observes L. Liubertaitė.
The naturalistic landscape will remain for a long time
Lina says naturalistic design, otherwise known as Dutch wave, is becoming increasingly entrenched in the landscape.
«It’s difficult to call it fashion, it’s a new tradition. This choice is based on the principles of ecology and helps preserve natural and human resources. Instead of ornamental motifs and annual plants, in this case we choose lush groups of plants. Modern naturalistic greenery is unimaginable without perennial Campanian plants, which will delight the eyes every year, even in winter.»
We’ll talk about it at the conference “Garden style” a green specialist will speak They were Marozienėbased on real practice: what is suitable for a flower bed, what for a hedge, which plants grow best in a group or individually. Bluebells are becoming increasingly popular and are an integral part of naturalistic design.»

Summing up, the blogger notes that we can create a wonderful view even on a small plot, but we must choose the plants very well.
«On a small plot, plants with small leaves and flowers appear in a completely different way – sometimes they seem to disappear in large plots. I would suggest visually expanding a small plot not only to the sides, but also upwards. For this, low plants can be raised higher, that is, grown in raised beds, and you can also choose to grow tall plants. In a small plot, every plant is visible, so when choosing, exclude lindens, which they are often diseased. Also think about the shape of the plant’s crown, branches, so that the selected plants look beautiful not only in the warm season, but also in the cold season», advises Lina.
