Inspiring teachers from Lithuania and abroad
The rapidly changing world poses a number of challenges in creating environmental design, hence the conferences»Garden Style 2023“ the speakers will present new ideas and invite you to look at things already known from a different perspective. Meet the inspiring conference speakers.
This year’s conference will be attended by a prestigious award-winning landscape designer, lecturer and judge of the international exhibition «RHS Chelsea Flower show» from the United Kingdom. Annie Guilfoyle. He will speak at the conference «How to create gardens thinking about the future». What should be the approach to garden design in the context of a world that changes daily and how can we ensure our creations are fit for the future? Annie will share specific garden examples, analyze solutions, and share trends that you can all apply.
Another guest from abroad is the landscape architect Dr. Mariusz Antolak (Poland) will present the concept of «foodscape» and show examples of how edible plants can be grown without sacrificing the aesthetic vision of the garden. While reading the message «Landscape design: let it be delightful!» will explain how popular vegetables, herbs, and fruit trees can be incorporated into landscape design along with ornamental plants.
Greenery designer and founder of «Gervių sodų». Reda Kazokevičienė will present design examples on how to create beautiful, moving gardens that are in harmony with nature and aesthetically pleasing at the same time.
A nature photographer well known to many, host of the program «Notes of the naturalist». Marius Cepulis will present the importance of biodiversity. After all, living nature is created not only by plants, so you will have a great opportunity to find out what Marius suggests paying attention to when creating gardens.
Landscape architect, ecologist, ambassador of naturalistic design They were Marozienė will tell which solutions in creating a garden are long-term and which ones create only a short-term effect, and will also give examples from various landscaping objects.
Well, a certified arborist, a certified independent landscaping and landscaping expert Renaldas Žilinskas will talk about the impact of mature trees on the garden and give practical advice on what you need to know about trees on the farm.
A look at tomorrow in the round tables
Two panel discussions will also take place on the main stage during the conference.
In the discussion “What kind of Lithuanian identity will we create for tomorrow: when fashionable plant combinations will be the same in Berlin and Rokiškis, where to look for interesting ideas” we will talk about the possibility of combining interesting heritage signs (ancient varieties of roses, stone and fire) with modern design that would also be interesting for future generations.
Ideas and reflections will be shared by the rose grower, founder of «Sibirkas rozynas». Dovilė Rylienėan architect Ona Lozuraitytė-Išorė (Isora x Lozuraityte Studio for Architecture) and landscape designer Domas Timinskas («Sustainable spaces»). We will discuss how much it is worth relying on the past and how to «transmit» local identity in a modern way.
In the second panel «Ecology as the basis of tomorrow’s design: how to achieve it concretely, so that it is not just words», we will talk about the principles that have been implemented in the development of design based on the laws of sustainability. We must create a garden for the future without illusions and responsibly, so we will also discuss the non-face side of sustainable design.

Creative design workshop with Annie Guilfoyle
August 27, the day after the conference „Garden style 2023“we have also prepared two design workshops for you.
Workshop all day»Kaip to use themes and concepts in the design of private land” with Annie Guilfoyle you will learn to transform ideas into paths, trees, flowers.
At this workshop we will ask you to bring an object that inspires you, on the basis of which we will work with the plot design. It can be an object, a photograph, a work of art, a poem or anything else that inspires you, which will become the axis of the design concept.

Foodscape design workshop with Mariusz Antolak
Another workshop will also be held on August 27 – «How to design with vpaid plants according to the principles of the “foodscape” with the Polish teacher Dr. Mariusz Antolak. It will introduce the laws of «foodscape» philosophy and explain how to combine edible plants with decorative ones.
During the training you will create landscape design, then learn to apply all your knowledge in a practical and creative process. During the workshop, the teacher will provide detailed lists of plants, including garden plants with edible flowers, decorative vegetables, as well as fruit trees and shrubs that not only ripen fruits and berries, but also have a very decorative appearance.
