After a long day at work, you only want one thing: to relax in your Intex inflatable spa, and you’re right!
But for safe moments of relaxation in healthy, clear water, filtration, and in particular cleaning the filter cartridge, should not be neglected!
After seeing what the filter cartridge of your Intex spa is for, you will better understand why it is essential to clean it regularly.
What is the filter cartridge of my inflatable spa for?
Installed inside your inflatable spa, the filter cartridge is essential for having clean and healthy water during your moments of relaxation!
Water treatment starts with good filtration. In fact, the water in your spa is constantly polluted by nature (wind, rain, sun, dust) and by you, who bring cosmetic products or even organic substances.
The filter cartridge will then filter the water to free it from all impurities and thus avoid most water-related problems. Made of dacron fiber folded tightly into a cylindrical shape, the filter cartridge will retain all impurities in your spa water.
But if the filter cartridge is clogged, it will no longer guarantee good water filtration and as a result the water will become cloudy. So, don’t wait for the water to become cloudy and clean the filter cartridge of your inflatable spa regularly!
How to remove the filter cartridge from its housing
First, before changing the cartridge, turn off your inflatable spa completely: filtration, bubbles, jets, heating.
The spa filter cartridge is located in the gray housing against the inside wall of the inflatable spa. To remove it, simply unscrew the housing cover by turning it counterclockwise.
From this moment on the filter cartridge is visible, just remove it. To do this, just slide it towards you to detach it from its base. If you can’t remove it from the case, check for obstructing debris (grass, fabric, branches, etc.).
How can I clean the filter cartridge of my Intex spa?
Once you remove the cartridge from the case you will easily see whether it needs cleaning or not. A clean cartridge is white, while a dirty cartridge is grey/brown.
To clean the filter cartridge, a simple cleaning with clean water is sufficient to give it a second life. Then use a jet of water with sufficient pressure to remove impurities.
With all the wrinkles, it can be tedious to clean the filter cartridge on your Intex spa. Filter cartridge cleaners exist to make your life easier!
Connected to a garden hose, the cartridge cleaner allows you to thoroughly clean the filter cartridge. The cleaning gun, in fact, is equipped with teeth that will remove the dirt trapped in the folds, without damaging them.
If you are in an area with hard water, soak the filter cartridge in a mixture of white vinegar and water for about 1 hour to descale it. Then rinse it with clean water to remove any traces of vinegar.
Once the cartridge has regained some of its whiteness, it means it is clean. You can then put it back in the case and close the lid.
When should I clean the filter cartridge of my inflatable spa?
Depending on the place chosen to install your inflatable spa and the frequency of use, the water will be more or less polluted by the natural elements and my bathers.
Remember to check the status of your spa’s filtration cartridge every 2 to 3 days during the summer to avoid cloudy water issues and/or the appearance of error codes that may be related to your spa’s filtration.
The filter cartridge should be cleaned twice a week, using a garden hose and cartridge cleaner. It allows you to filter your spa water for 2 weeks, after which you will need to change it to ensure good filtration of your spa water.
To extend the life of your filter, minimize impurities entering your spa water, such as sunscreen, makeup, grass, leaves, etc.
